Cold Rooms and Refrigeration

Using high quality insulated panels, Hilley Consultants Ltd create temperature controlled hygienic environments throughout Kenya. From cold stores, cold rooms and hygienic food processing environments, through to chilled distribution warehouses and walk-in freezers, our experience and specialist expertise covers it all. Hilley Consultants Ltd are Professional Coldroom Contractors in Construction of Typical ranges of temperature and hygienic controlled rooms are as follows:

✔ Freezer rooms 0°C to -40°C - These cold rooms can be constructed on site using insulated panels, they come in a variety of different colour finishes although typical colour used is white foodsafe laminate. These typically require a heated reinforced concrete floor to be laid on top of an existing floor or to excavate the existing concrete and then laid. There is also another option of an insulated panel floor which is more economical although its not recommend for forklift usage.

✔ Chiller rooms (walk in fridges) 0°C to 5°C - This form of cold room doesn’t require a floor to be installed with the room, due to the high temperature there isn’t a risk of frost heave.

✔ Hygienic Food Production Areas - These can be constructed from hygienic foodsafe insulated panels that provide cold, chilled environment suitable for wash and clean down.

These are cold rooms designed and constructed on site using insulated panels; these panels come in a wide range of colours and insulation cores.

Refrigeration

At the moment our involvement encompasses refrigeration for air conditioning and where it forms part of larger maintenance contracts. We are commercial refrigeration engineers and can counter problems in staff canteens, manufacturing production or business critical processes / services that may have been disrupted by failings with any of the following; issues with refrigeration and freezers, blast chillers, refrigerated service counters, chilled display cabinets, walk-in fridges, controlled thawing systems and general temperature control within food handling and processing sites. Mechanical Ventilation

Fresh air ventilation systems, extract systems, cascading pressure systems (eg. hospital operating theatres), displacement ventilation systems. The fresh air system is designed to enhance the heating and cooling systems. In most instances we are able to build in heat recovery systems, or incorporate some free cooling via the fresh air system. The hospital ventilation system requires precision with design, to ensure the correct room pressures. Only in this way can we be certain that the airflow is from clean areas to dirty areas, and not vice versa. Displacement ventilation systems incorporate heating and cooling, and are designed to be able to introduce a high quantity of air into a space without causing a draft. Extract systems can be a simple toilet extract fan, a commercial extract system, or an industrial or medical system requiring high efflux velocities to ensure that the vitiated air is projected high into the atmosphere.

Kitchen Hood & Equipments

Consistent maintenance of the kitchen hood exhaust system in your restaurant or facility remains one of the primary defenses against fire hazards. Our established cleaning methods remove the grease and flammable residues from the interior surfaces of the hood, filters, ductwork and exhaust fans to ensure compliance with all applicable municipal, National Fire Protection Association codes. Upon completion of the cleaning process, decal is posted on the hood canopy in plain view of the fire marshall,department, or insurance agent.

Kitchen and Exhaust Cleaning specifications include the filter plenum, and the interior of ductwork to and including the exhaust fan located on the roof.

✔ Clean the kitchen exhaust filters.

✔ Scrape and wash underside of hoods, including piping, conduit, fire heads, etc.

✔ Wash the interior of water-wash filtering systems.

✔ Water sourced heat pump systems.

✔ Cut into into ductwork and install new removable metal access doors, where necessary, to reach all areas. These access doors meet current fire prevention regulations.
